Nice to meet you.

Who I Am:

I'm a game designer at Schell Games in Pittsburgh, PA.  I'm also a former UX Designer, teacher, and Informatics graduate from Bloomington, Indiana with a love of art, technology, and small, colorful toys.

I love games because I believe they have the power to unlock human potential. They switch up the rules and scripts we live a lot of our lives following. They make people unafraid to fail. And there's a lot to be gained on the other side of failure. I love design and teaching for the same reason: I like using methods and processes to make thinking visual and tangible. I like finding solutions to complicated problems that may not have a single or clear answer.

My current short-term goals are to become a better tutor for the kids I work with, finish planting my garden plot, keep taking improv comedy classes, and spend the summer taking in everything Pittsburgh has to offer. Never been? You should visit. Don't tell anyone how cool it is though. Shhh.

My long-term goals are to focus on making games that can change people in large and small ways, especially for those who are behind in school or have become too afraid to feel curious.

What I Do:

I currently spend a lot of time with my project team developing a tablet game for 7-year-old boys.  When I'm not doing that, you might find me laughing with my really excellent cohort (or giving them a hard time as their Game Design TA), playing board games, biking somewhere on the Schenley Park sidewalks, or trying to figure out how to start tomatoes indoors that do better than they did last year.  I think it has something to do with repotting.
